Capturing the stages of ice melting, Return evokes a paradoxical beauty where land and sky connect through the form of an ice boat. Douglas highlights the environmental interplay between sunlight and the gradual return of melted ice to the land, fostering a heightened awareness of place and transformation.

"Light, time and the connection from the land to sky melts in the form of an ice boat. By photographically ‘holding’ these stages of melt, the artist presents us with a paradoxical beauty that emerges from within the ever changing form. The rate of melt returns to the land in response to the sun. Here, the artist creates a poignant awareness of site and of the environment.The transference of the ice melting, liquefying back to itself and returning to its origin, that is, back to the landscape itself."
